Volunteering at Cambridge Half Marathon
For several years now, Let’s Run Girls has committed to volunteering at the Cambridge Half Marathon event: supporting a key drinks station on the course as well as providing ‘Ten Mile Troopers’ to support runners at perhaps the most challenging section of the course. Volunteering alongside other Let’s Run Girls members is a fantastic and fun way to experience the event and support our runners.
All event volunteers will receive lunch, a volunteer jacket and a gift and will be entitled to a discounted guaranteed entry into the 2027 event.
Both LRG team volunteer roles are listed below with the sign up links. The below information is provided by the Event Organisers looking to recruit volunteers for the event on Sunday 8th March 2026:
Drinks Station Team
We require approximately 30 – 40 people to manage a drinks station on our extremely busy half marathon course. You will be located near Trumpington Church, with parking available nearby. You will have a mixture of water bottles and High 5 gels at your station, and will need to prepare these to hand out to our runners, and hopefully cheer them on as they reach a critical point in their race. You will have a member of our experienced crew with you at all times, and communication with event control so if you have any questions on the day please ask. There will be a manual available nearer the time, but essentially you will need to pass water bottles and gels to those in need, keep your area clean and tidy, and pack away at the end of the event. You will be provided with all the tools needed, and also a lunch bag, volunteer jacket and a gift. You will also be entitled to a discounted guaranteed entry into the 2027 event should you wish.
If you want to support the drinks station, click the link below where you will be asked to sign in or create a new account on Rosterfy. Once you answer the event questions, you will be automatically assigned to the Drinks station shift. Drink station volunteers will be required from approximately 8am until 2pm, or until the final runner passes.
Ten Mile Troopers
Your role will be to simply encourage anyone who needs some support, along mile 10 of the course, and head back to help another struggling runner. Some may just need a few kind words, others may need much more support, but will appreciate you running with them for a short distance. You will be located very close to the drinks station, and park in the same place. You will benefit from the same as listed above, and will have a gazebo put up to store any belongings or clothing you wish. We would suggest there is always someone at the gazebo, just to keep an eye on belongings as this does become quite a busy area.
If you want to volunteer as a Ten Mile Trooper, click the link below where you will be asked to sign in or create a new account on Rosterfy. Once you answer the event questions, you will be automatically assigned to the Ten Mile Troopers shift. These volunteers will be required from approximately 8am until 2pm, or until the final runner passes.
